Alicia Milla, Program Officer for Education, Arts & Culture
Alicia Milla joined ICF in July 2008 to manage the organization’s grant making and gifts processes. In 2012 Alicia took over management of ICF’s Education, Arts & Culture portfolio, which involves working closely with both grantees and donors to identify opportunities to increase access to and improve educational outcomes, and to preserve and promote the rich culture of Mexico, her native country.
During her 19 year tenure at Youth for Understanding (YFU), Alicia served as Associate Director to the International Secretariat and Program Officer for Latin America and Europe in Washington D.C., and previously as Executive Director of Youth for Understanding de Mexico, A.C., based in Mexico City. Between 2002-2004, Alicia was the Executive Director of Mount Pleasant Main Street, Inc., in Washington, D.C. – an organization that was part of the nationwide Main Street Programs, established by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
Throughout her career Alicia has performed independent consultant work for nonprofit organizations in the areas of strategic planning, internal finance, program design and evaluation, and governance and Board management.
In 2014 Alicia completed the Masters in Nonprofit Leadership and Management at the University of San Diego. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Modern English Language and Literature from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) in Mexico City, Mexico, and was the recipient of the UNAM’s Gabino Barreda award for the highest cumulative academic average in her class (1997).
Alicia is fluent in Spanish, English and French and enjoys attending any theatrical or artistic event in the diverse San Diego – Tijuana region.
