Cynthia began her nonprofit work in Los Cabos in 2002, first working with a small scholarship group “Kid Smart” and then volunteering with the Service Programs division of Liga MAC, A.C – a local educational nonprofit which holds a ‘friends of’ fund at ICF. She served on the Liga MAC Executive Board first as Vice-President and then as President from 2005-2009. In 2010, Cynthia became the organization’s first Executive Director. In her time with the organization she was instrumental in opening the Centro de Apoyo Liga MAC and helped to initiate the Scholarship Program, Adelante con la Educacion (ACE). After a brief retirement, in 2014 she was approached by ICF to join the team and gladly accepted the challenge!
Cynthia moved to Los Cabos with her husband in 1999, after retiring from her 18-year career as a successful Small Business owner in Park City, Utah. As a long-term expat living in Mexico, she brings with her a nuanced cross-cultural understanding of the BCS community and context, as well as valuable insight on the realities of operating a small nonprofit in Mexico.
She enjoys practicing yoga, engaging in the activities of her international community, and continues to explore the natural beauty of Baja that attracted her to the area over 30 years ago.
