Nutrition and Environment Education Programs

In 2006, Christy Walton donated her National City, California, Victorian home to ICF with a stipulation that the organic garden be maintained to teach children and inspire communities to grow their own healthy fruits and vegetables. In 2010, ICF gifted the grounds to Olivewood Gardens & Learning Center for their program activities. Today, ICF and Olivewood both maintain their headquarters on the property, which offers a unique venue to support both organizations’ programs and other events.

Olivewood educates children, adults, and families through healthy cooking, environmental education, and leadership development. Its three signature programs include the Children’s Garden and Nutrition Education Field Trips, Cooking for Salud®, and Volunteer and Internship Program. Classes are also offered to the community to advance knowledge of healthy cooking and environmental education.
