Future Initiatives: What We Are Planning for the Future

Inspiring Change for the Next 25 years
Over the past 25 years of successful grantmaking, special initiatives, and on-the-ground results, ICF has worked hard to improve the quality of life in the communities our donors care about in the Baja California peninsula, the Sea of Cortez region, and beyond.

Our vision for the next 25 years is equally clear – to increase health, education and environmental grantmaking to local organizations in Mexico and Latin America, with the goal of strengthening civil society and promoting sustainable communities.

We will implement this vision through four core strategies:

Expand and diversify giving to Mexico and Latin America.

Focus programmatically to accelerate economic, social, and environmental initiatives throughout the region.

Invest in a place-based strategy in order to support regional health, education, and environmental initiatives.

Steward our resources effectively and maximize organizational efficiency to ensure long-term impact in the regions and programs you care about.

.

Looking Ahead
With your generous support, ICF will focus on the following areas as we move into the future:
Protect the natural beauty and ecological Integrity of the Baja California Peninsula and Sea of Cortez:
ICF has been involved in the most important conservation projects in the region over the past 15 years. We will continue to focus on high-priority coastal sites in Baja California, Baja California Sur, Sonora, and the Sinaloa-Jalisco corridor.
Ensure that Baja residents enjoy a high quality of life and sense of place:
ICF has installed sculptures on the malecón in La Paz and tackled tough issues like clean air and groundwater. ICF will continue its work on urban mobility, air quality, land-use zoning, and large-scale infrastructure projects throughout the region.
Help children and families improve nutrition and eat healthier foods:
Using our experience with Olivewood Gardens and Learning Center, ICF has consistently funded community gardens and breakfast programs. ICF is developing plans to launch a Food Security Alliance in Baja California Sur, and is building on its Dulce Wireless partnership to reduce diabetes incidence in the border region.
Keep Kids in School and Learning For the Future:
ICF has worked to keep kids in school throughout Latin America. We will continue to focus on scholarships, curriculum development and after-school programs, and will also help build new institutions and invest in new learning technologies.
