ICF Launches Food Security Campaign

The International Community Foundation is embarking on a campaign to improve access to healthy, fresh food for low-income families from La Paz to Los Cabos in Baja California Sur.  While much of the United States’ organic produce comes from this region of Mexico, fresh, healthy produce is not accessible to local families that need it most.  We and our partners hope to change that dramatically in the next two years! Join Us!

RECAP: ICF’s ‘Food Security Reception’ for San Diego Area Donors
On Sunday, September 18th, in honor of National Hunger Awareness Month & the start of the harvest season in Baja California, ICF friend Marcie Rothman hosted an intimate dinner discussion of ICF’s Food Security program. ICF Baja California Sur Food Security Coordinator, Joel Mendez, shared ICF’s ambitious plans to establish the region’s first Food Rescue Center in Los Cabos, and expand the community kitchen & garden model to 6 sites in 2017. Many thanks to Marcie, Chef Amy DiBiase, and all guests who participated in this lovely evening!

OUR GOAL is $137,000 FOR the EXPANSION OF 6 NEW DEMONSTRATION GARDENS & SEED FUNDING FOR BAJA CALIFORNIA’S FIRST FOOD RESCUE CENTER  It’s easy to get involved; a donation of only $200 can support a family’s participation in these initiatives for 1 year. Download the Fact Sheet to learn more.
